In the fall of 2012, Mary Beth came across Surfset Fitness while watching an episode of Shark Tank! She became so immediately intrigued by this surf inspired/awesome core workout that she got certified, and then went onto be come an Ambassador and Master Trainer!! She saw the value of Surfset as an amazing supplement to all other sports. It is with great excitement that she will be bringing the hottest new workout to Long Island !!!

Her 25 years as a Personal Trainer/ Speed Training and Conditioning Specialist began at the Upper Mainline YMCA in Malvern, Pa. teaching Group Fitness Classes and Youth Athletics. Mary Beth volunteered as a coach for CYO Track and Field for 11 years and then went on to become the Head Coach for Cross Country at The Agnes Irwin School in Villanova, Pa. She went on to implement the first Track and Field program at the school and produced many All State, All League, and All Delaware County athletes. Mary Beth was named PAISAA Coach of the Year for XC in 2005.
As a USATF Level 2 Sprint Specialist, for the past 15 years, she has privately coached numerous Division 1 athletes in the sports of Soccer, Lacrosse, and Field Hockey in preparation for their Fall and Spring Fitness Assessments.
Mary Beth has been a Certified Personal Trainer (AFAA) for 25 years and became a Surfset Master Trainer 3 years ago!
As an athlete, she competed in HS Varsity sports of Track and Field, Tennis, and Volleyball. In college gave Crew a try, and as a recreational athlete loves trail running, waterskiing, paddleboarding, body surfing, hiking, XC skiing......if it's outdoors, I'll give it a try!
In 2001, Mary Beth was featured in the Nike Commercial Series segment called "Raining Runners" !! ( go all the way to the end- "Enjoy the weather!")
Lena Sundberg: I started practicing yoga in 2007, when I was pregnant with my
first child. I had always been an avid exerciser doing various cardio, stretching,
weight training and volleyball. So naturally my first yoga class was at the gym. It
was this class that I met my first teacher who shared her enthusiasm, skill and
knowledge of yoga. I am so grateful she taught the importance of breath, proper
alignment and for the many adjustments during my practice. I learned not to
“muscle” into poses but to breathe into it. For it is more important to have proper
alignment than to force the pose and compromise the integrity of the asana. For
me, yoga is physically challenging and mentally soothing. The linking of breath to
movement and mind with body leads me to an inner calmness. It is meditation in
motion. Yoga has made physically and mentally stronger. It has taught me to
accept what is, enjoy what is now, breath through what is difficult and most
importantly, contentment (santosha). These are the life tools we all need to find
happiness and balance in our demanding and chaotic lives. And I wish to share
this with others.
I have 7 years experience as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I hold a B.S. in Physical Therapy from SUNY Buffalo, with over 20 years of clinical practice. In 2010, I combined my love of physical therapy and fitness and became an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer. I enjoy using my thorough understanding of anatomy and movement analysis to customize training sessions and fitness classes, honing in on individual needs. I’ve always been involved in athletics, but it wasn't until I started weight training and incorporating interval training into my activities that fitness became a passion.
Over the past 7 years, I have been exposed to many facets of the fitness industry. My Certifications include: ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Beachbody P90X and Insanity Instructor, Senior Fitness Specialist, Postural Re-education, Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aide and Surfset Tier 1 Trainer.
My goal is to help you enjoy your training, get you excited about your workouts, and help motivate and challenge you to strive for improvements that you didn't know were possible. Fitness has been enriching my life for years and I would like to encourage this lifestyle in others as well.
